Now this is one of our favourite events of the year, and although I’m writing this in September, I’m feeling Christmassy already! Think: roasting chestnuts, fake snow, Victorian side shows, a giant carousel, strolling entertainers, falconry displays, and of course Queen Victoria in all her finery. Plus the stately house is decked out in period style, with beautiful trees and festive table decorations.

Even modern kids, who’ve been raised on PlayStations, will love this traditional day out. So enjoy the festivities – and have yourselves a merry little Christmas…
