EXPLORE

Explore Ventnor

Everywhere you look there’s something special to see and do around Ventnor. This is a fabulous area for walking along the breathtaking coastline and St Boniface Down. Please click to download a village trail around historic St Lawrence and a dramatic coastal trail around this beautiful area (with thanks to the Ventnor and Undercliff Heritage Partnership, who produced these leaflets).

There’s also an array of festivals and arts events throughout the year. Plus there are attractions for children such as the Isle of Wight’s favourite Blackgang Chine, which is an old fashioned style amusement park perched on a cliff, with giant water slides, a haunted house and shoot ‘em up cowboy town.

Ventnor Botanic Gardens

The Ventnor Botanic Garden – a sub tropical extravaganza with a brilliant café. There are many rare species here (including red hot pokers and cacti) and giant towering echiums. Keep your eyes peeled for the famous (but very shy) Ventnor lizards scuttling around the rock gardens.

Steephill Cove

Steephill Cove – an idyllic hidden beach and hang-out of the stars. This is the perfect spot for beach cricket, before you go and watch the professionals at work at nearby Ventnor Cricket Club where they have a famous bowl-shaped pitch.
