The arts and crafts trail

This month, we’ve gone arts and crafts crazy. We’re crackers about Rainbows, which stocks everything you need to get creative and make your own clothes and knitwear. They also sell adorable handmade stuff for the little ‘uns including the sweetest hoodies and booties. Call Jenny on 01983 855117 or just drop in.

Almost opposite, don’t miss the Ventnor Country Market - held every Thursday morning, it serves up cards, cakes, breads, jams, wooden plant tubs and knitwear made from the softest alpaca wool.

Just a few steps away, there’s the fabulous Ventnor Craft and Candy Emporium, our fave place to eat retro sweets and buy amazing local crafts ranging from handmade cards to knitted dinosaurs – they’ve just had a makeover, so check out the new sparkly floor!

For seriously stylish jewellery, you need to go to Honeybourne Jewellery, opposite a certain motorcycle shop. The jewellery is hand made with love in Ventnor and makes a wonderful present for someone special (that includes you – you deserve it).

Very nearly Isle of Arts!

Not long to go until our favorite arty extravaganza that packs in music, comedy, drama, film, literature and visual arts. This year, all the fun takes place over the May bank holiday weekend, from Friday 2 May until Monday 5 May. Book now to get your seats for gardener and raconteur Monty Don, poet Roger McGough, comic legend Rich Hall, jazzer Kyle Eastwood, the Wimpy Kid show, Ukulele Orchestra and lots more. Tickets are going fast so get yer skates on!

Park life

Great things are happening over at beautiful Ventnor Park on Park Avenue – so pop on over. The café T in the Park is under new ownership and there’s lots planned over Easter. There’s an Easter Hat contest on Easter Sunday (20 April) with the judging at 3pm. There are prizes to win and all ages are welcome. Plus don’t miss the green gym, at the top of the park – it’s hilarious and equally loved by kids and grannies.

Teatime treats

What a treat – the lovely Windsor Carlton will be offering a high tea, overlooking the sea, every Sunday from Easter Sunday. Enjoy!
